PAS 125

Single repair standard for the industry

The Thatcham/BSI Kitemark for vehicle body repair was launched in January 2007. Developed with the guidance of all bodies involved in the crash repair sector, it takes into account the issues that affect safe, quality repairs. By adopting the standard, repairers are demonstrating their ability and credentials, offering insurers and motorists a renowned badge of quality assurance.

Robust technical specification

Although the crash repair sector has a number of standards and codes, the PAS 125 technical specification provides bodyshops with the procedures and processes relating to the safe repair of accident-damaged vehicles. It details minimum requirements for competent personnel, appropriate and well-maintained equipment, suitable repair methods, quality materials, and repair process management.

Widespread industry approval

A scheme driven by two such highly respected organisations as BSI and Thatcham naturally attracted support from the industry. The UK's largest motor insurers, including RBS Insurance, Norwich Union and Esure, have made Kitemark achievement a requirement for their networks of approved repairers. The accident management industry is also supporting the scheme with WNS, Innovation Motorcare, FMG Support, Elite Incident Management, MVRA, Fleet Accident Repair Group (FARG) and Call 24-7 all giving the Kitemark standard their full backing.

Investment in your business

Whether your business is large or small, PAS 125 is a standard you need to be part of. Displaying the Kitemark shows that you are running a business that adopts best practices for the industry, your employees, and your customers. It's a mark that customers and work providers recognise and trust. Conforming to the Kitemark ensures your business performs more efficiently too - reducing your costs and improving profit.
