No compromise on safety

Safety clothing according to EN 20471

High-visibility clothing is legally required to be worn in certain working conditions. People working in road construction, for utility services, as couriers, refuse collectors or on runways are obliged to wear high-visibility clothing. High-visibility clothing is also needed in road traffic, rail transport, emergency services and the police. Higher visibility will provide greater safety in dangerous situations. The wearer must be noticeable and seen under all circumstances –- both during the day and at night. Some NEON line products from Würth MODYF also meet UV standard 801. These certified products protect the body from sunlight and prevent burning of the skin.

The standard defining which garments provide sufficient visibility is EN 20471. The internationally recognised standard distinguishes between three protection levels. The higher the risk in a particular work situation, the higher the safety class must be of the high-visibility clothing.

Class 1
Safety class 1
  • Trousers or accessories

Approved on roads with up to 30 km/h speed limit.

Class 2
Safety class 2
  • T-shirts, waistcoats, jumpers or dungarees

Approved on roads with up to 60 km/h speed limit and with sufficient visibility and light traffic.

Class 3
Safety class 3
  • Covered torso and long-sleeved top or long trousers with reflective stripes

Approved on roads with speed limit over 60 km/h, in poor visibility and heavy traffic.

Supplementary information on the correct handling of high-visibility clothing:

Hazard warning
  • High-visibility clothing must always be worn in its entirety.
  • High-visibility trousers must not be shortened or rolled up. The distance between the ground and the first reflective strip is prescribed.
  • High-visibility clothing can be washed a limited number of times. Note the number specified on the label.
  • Several garments in combination result in a higher safety class. This requirement is met based on the visible area when worn together. The highest achievable safety class for high-visibility clothing is protection class 3.
This means, for example: Jacket protection class 2 + trousers protection class 2 = entire outfit protection class 3

More comfort and protection with the latest technologies

From E-CARE technology to ODOURSTOP - Workwear from Würth MODYF is equipped with the latest textile technology. Learn about the properties of our workwear below:

E-CARE

E-CARE: 99 % protection

In today's world we are exposed to constant radiation, from mobile phones, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and 4G/LTE. E-Care technology protects your body from electromagnetic waves and thus from harmful radiation. The E-Care material is certified according to the OEKO-TEX® 100 standard. The fibres form a barrier and prevent the transmission of electromagnetic signals to the body.

SILVERPRO

SILVERPRO: Intelligent textile

Every person feels the climate differently, as we all perspire or perceive cold at different thresholds. The reflective, silver dot design regulates body temperature for maximum comfort. Body heat is reflected and is therefore maintained at a comfortable level. Body moisture, such as sweat, is transported to the outside by the functional fleece material.

ODOURSTOP

ODOURSTOP: Always stay fresh

A highly innovative and antibacterial textile that ensures odour control and thus lasting freshness. The growth of bacteria is stopped and prevented. The natural silver salt quickly and reliably neutralises sweat odour.

MODYTEX

MODYTEX: Stay dry when it gets wet

The processed functional membrane is waterproof and yet breathable. This high-tech membrane is used in a wide variety of Würth MODYF products, both in work clothes and in safety shoes.

FAQ - the most common questions on fabric choice and cleaning

What material should my work clothes be made of?

Every material has its advantages. Cotton is skin-friendly and offers excellent comfort. It does not melt (e.g. in the case of flying sparks), is durable and very absorbent. Polyester/cotton blended fabric is characterised by being easy to care for and very durable. It dries quickly and does not shrink when washed.

Why do colours sometimes fade more in the wash and sometimes less?

Different fabrics have different properties. Cotton for instance is not as colourfast as polyester. Using colour liquid detergents is likely to preserve the colours for longer. All-in-one detergent bleaches out the colours.

How do I get my laundry germ-free?

Germs on fabrics are not reliably killed at low washing temperatures. This only occurs in washes at 60 degrees or above. If this is not taken into account, germs may become established, which often brings unpleasant odours. So that you no longer need to worry about keeping your work clothes at their germ-free best, Würth MODYF has created the Cetus Collection. Not only is the collection non-itching, OEKO-TEX® 100 certified, durable and metal-free, it can also be washed at 60 degrees.

How do I best care for my embroidered or printed work clothes?
